Dead Rising 2 Officially Announced

It's now official: Capcom is owning up to Dead Rising 2's existence, if not the handy-cam teaser video that surfaced on YouTube last week (though the press release issued today mentions the "all new gambling paradise of Fortune City." Given the Vegas-inflected environments in the teaser, we'll take that as a knowing wink). Per the press release, the zombie virus that struck Willamette couldn't be contained, and spread throughout the U.S. New weapons and environmental objects will be available to kill zombies with. It'll be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. And that's about all the press release said pertaining to the game.

Dead Rising 2 is being developed at Blue Castle Games in Vancouver, BC (Front Office Manager, The Bigs) alongside, as the press release puts it, "a number of members from the original Dead Rising team." The release goes on to state that Capcom's head of R&D Kenji Inafune will "play an active role in the project."

That bodes well, right?
